A native Miamian, Ken Claussen began his legal career in Miami over 30 years ago. He opened his present office in 1998, joining several of his former partners in their offices in Coral Gables.

Prior to beginning his current firm, he was a partner in the Miami office of Baker and McKenzie, where he specialized in business, banking and international taxation and trust and estate law. He served as the head of the Miami office's banking practice group and was a member of the firm's global international private wealth group. Before joining Baker and McKenzie, he was a partner for nine years in the Miami law firm of Patterson, Claussen, Santos & Hume, where he headed the firm's business, banking, tax, and trust and estate practice. Before this firm was established he was a partner for eleven years in the former Helliwell, Melrose and DeWolf where he first developed his specialization in international business, banking, taxation and trust and estate law. He began his legal career in Miami with one of Miami's oldest and established firms now known as Kimbrell and Hamann.

Admitted to the Florida Bar in 1968, Mr. Claussen chaired its International Law Section in 1985 and continues to serve as an ex-officio member of the Section's Executive Council. He is a member of the Florida Bar and American Bar Association's sections of Business, International, Tax and Real Property, Trust and Estate law. He is a member of the Miami branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, based in London.

Mr. Claussen earned his J.D. degree from Stetson College of Law in 1968 and a Masters of Law degree in Taxation from the University of Miami in 1971. He received his undergraduate degree in Accounting from Stetson University in 1965.
